Job Purpose

The Clearing Lead plays a pivotal role in managing and coordinating the clearance of goods through customs and associated processes. This leadership position is crucial in ensuring the efficient and compliant movement of goods across international borders. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to expedite clearance processes, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery while adhering to all relevant regulations and requirements. Additionally, the individual will be tasked with fostering strong relationships with customs officials and relevant stakeholders to streamline operations and mitigate potential obstacles in the clearance process. 

Key Accountabilities

• Lead and oversee the clearing team, providing guidance and direction to ensure smooth operations.
• Develop and implement efficient clearing processes and strategies to expedite the clearance of agricultural products.
• Liaise with customs authorities and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all import and export regulations.
• Monitor changes in customs laws and regulations, updating internal processes accordingly to maintain compliance.
• Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other clearing agents to optimize clearing operations.
• Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to customs clearance, ensuring minimal delays and smooth cargo movement.
• Collaborate with the logistics and procurement teams to streamline the movement of goods and minimize transportation costs.
• Prepare and submit accurate and timely customs documentation and declarations for all shipments.
• Provide periodic reports and updates to management regarding clearing operations, compliance, and potential improvements.
